Love is my Superpower

The other day my six year old son and three year old daughter and I were on our way to pick up their older sister from school. We were passing the time in the car telling collaborative superhero stories featuring ourselves as the heroes.

I asked Miles what his super power was. He said, “Superhuman strength! And speaking Spanish!” He’s not too far off on the second one, you should hear his accent. Olivia chose the ability to freeze people, one that she uses regularly on her adoring family members who cease all movement when zapped by her little finger.

It was my turn. Olivia asked, “Mom, what’s your superpower?” Before I even had the chance to respond, Miles broke the silence with, “Mom’s superpower is love!” It was all I could do to not burst into tears. It is a badge I will wear proudly for the rest of my life.

It’s one we can all wear at any time because love is a superpower we’ve all had from the day we arrived on this planet. Tapping into it is always a choice. The love we feel for others originates from the thoughts we choose to think about them. The more we experiment with this the more we can see for ourselves how truly powerful it is.
